Apple Prepares New 3D Camera Support with TOF Sensor for iPhone 2k19

Tech freaks around the world are waiting for Apple to release 3D camera support for the back camera in the upcoming iPhone in 2k19.

Speculations are floating all around the corner after a news report at Bloomberg stated that Apple might be including a new 3D back camera that would improve on the face recognition feature introduced in previous variants of iPhone.

This was revealed in the context of Sony rapidly producing high-tech camera chips that would provide next-generation 3D sensors for various renowned smartphone manufacturers.

Various mobile brands like Apple, Samsung and Huawei, have also shown interest in introducing such 3D chips into their various flagship devices as such chips would enable 3D camera operations on both front and back camera.

As various manufacturers’ previously availed chips made by Sony in their devices, it is speculated that the new 3D chips are also produced in mass scale for all its buyers. It would be fascinating to see who has the desired potential to pull off such a latest tech and provide it to their users in a reasonable price shift.

Satoshi Yoshihara head of sensor division at Sony also indicated that 3D tech is on the rise and it is quite profitable as well. He claimed that cameras had revolutionised mobile phones and accordingly 3D cameras are going to bring a breakthrough in upcoming 2k19. Therefore, Sony is prepared to boost its production as the demand for 3D cameras would increase.

These new 3D camera chips work on time of flight sensor as compared to its predecessors, which worked on structured light method. The time of flight or (TOF) sensors operates on simple phenomena of sending out laser pulses which are invisible to naked eye and then measuring the time and distance that is required to bounce back.
By measuring the lasers time and distance a much more précis and in-depth 3D model can be created which as compared to a structured light method can prove to be much more accurate.

In the previous iPhone X, iPhone XS all such variants did inculcate 3D cameras, but with new TOS sensor the reliability on 3D cameras will boost and will make a breakthrough in the mobile phone industry.

3D cameras are not just bound to the much more accurate camera and picture quality, but it is also believed to improve various other interactions. As improved interactions would enhance various cellular games and apps which could provide with augmented reality that Apple wants to offer its users.
