Elon Musk’s Neuralink Will Directly Provide Music to the Brain

Remember all those sci-fi stories and movies we saw years ago? Elon Musk is a real-life character straight out of those movies. His plans and ideas for the future are not only mind-boggling, but they are also existentially questionable. Keeping aside the ills of the modern machine, Musk is making headlines again as he responds with a simple, “Yes.” The short answer holds such significance because it answered a question with surreal futuristic repercussions. And even though Mr. Musk didn’t come up with this announcement himself, the words are now out there.

Twitter had a blast with Musk’s answer

So, when Elon Musk tweeted about needing people who can solve severe problems for phones, he expected people to ask more. Ask, they did. And computer scientist Austin Howard asked something that was on everyone’s mind, “Can we listen to music directly from our chips?” To which the eccentric entrepreneur replied, “Yes.”

And thus, to conclude, future people will not need headphones to listen to music. The SpaceX owner hinted towards such a future when he was questioned about Neuralink, the “brain-machine interface.” Neuralink’s aims to link microscopic processors inside the brain with invisibly narrow threads. These threads read brain activity in the neurons. This enables users to ‘control’ things with their minds. The data is sent to the sensors on the skull, which is then processed by a small computer worn behind the ear.

The back and forth tweets have been going on for months now, with the first ones surfacing around February. Since then Mr. Musk has clarified a lot of queries. He talked about the need to make it extremely safe for human wear and easy to use. Neuralink’s internal standards are way harder to pass the regulatory standards. So the onus of the standard lies with the manufacturers, and they are owning up to providing a fantastic and safe product. And as we’ve seen from his professional past, Mr. Musk has already broken the boundaries of human technological involvement with self-driven Tesla and SpaceX. So why expect any less from his latest mind-bending idea.

In other news, the young tech tycoon has also passed Warren Buffet on the list of the wealthiest people in the world. And although he might not care too much for it, investors and fans all over the world are gushing over the future that could be with such an eccentric personality at the forefront.
